WAIKATO EAST v. HAMILTON. . An exciting contest between the above teams in the semi-final of the Banner competition, under the auspices of the Waikato Association, ended in a win for Waikato East by - 13 sets (140 games) to ll sets (146 games). The match ended in the dark, and in the words of Mr. 'McCracken, captain of the Hamilton team, was the closest game yet played between the two teams. Details of play are as follows, the Waikato East players being mentioned first in each instance:— Men’s 'Singles. 1 — Laurenson beat Brough, 9—5; Green beat StevenSoa, 9 —B; Whyte beat Horton, 9— 7; Egan lost to James, 5—9; Davies beat McCracken, 9—7; Brown lost to Andrews, I—9. Ladies’ Singles.—Miss N. Beverley beat Miss Newell, 7—o; Miss M. Beverley lost to "Mrs. Cradwick, I—7;1 —7; Miss Stewart beat Miss Bruce, 7—6; Mrs. Willis beat Miss Nutting, 7—6; Miss Bell lost to Miss Madley, 4—7; Miss N. Graham beat Miss Pearson, 7—l. Men’s Doubles. Laurenson and Green beat Brough and James, 9—6; Egan and Davies lost to •Steverrs'on and McCracken, 7—9; Whyte and Brown Beat Horton and Andrews, 9—7.
