MATAMATA DISTRICT REST ROOM.
- (To the Editor) Sir, —For some little time a number of citizens, the Beautifying Society and the Plunket Society,- have been discussing ways and means of raising funds to establish a public rest room in Matamata. (In addition to reading and writing rooms, bathroom, scullery, etc., a room will be provided for the Plunket Nurse to receive women and children.) The rest room will be primarily for country women, the various citizens and the two societies recognising that the present facilities in the town are Inadequate to enable a visitor to rest, or" a mother -to while ..visiting -th£'lfcownship. We desire more than a rest room, our aim being to.erect in pleasant gardens a building large enough and sufficiently well equipped to 'enable visitors to enjoy every comfort and in addition afford an opportunity of spending a social hour with others. J The rest room, the proposed., site ! of which is in Hetana street in front o.f the is to be surjmm&etrlZy extensive lawns, dressed here and there with flower gardens. Seats will be placed in the gardens and reserve. Our object in writing this letter is to make it plain, to town, and country dweller alike that, if approached by representatives of the citizens, the Plunket or Beautifying Societies, all will be working for the common aim of enhancing the wellbeing and comfort of the women and children of this town and district. —We are, etc., JNO. BUCHANAN, Chairman Matamata Town Board. R. W. STEVENS, President Beautifying Society.
