HEALTH FOR YOUR HAIR. (By H. C. Aylen) The condition of the hair is a sign of health. If your bair is dull and lifeless; if it falls out excessively; if it is too dry, oi unusually greasy, then your bodily condition is also out of order, and you must see to this before you -tackle the hair itself. The digestion must be taken in hand first.' Are you eating too much or too little? Do you indulge in over-greasy foods which apset your iver and induce the dank, heavy condition of the hair- which is so deplorable? Are you getting sufficient sunshine and fresh air to make your blood red and. your hair a good colour? D( you take enough exercise to aid the internal organs to do their work? Settle these questions promptly, change those habits that need’to be changed —and watch the improvement in your health, to say nothing of your hair. Hair Brushes and Shampoos Have at least two hair brushes, so that the one in use is absolutely spotless. A soiled brush merely clogs the delicate scalp pores with dust' and chokes them. Always shampoo with - soft water. Rain-water is best, of course, but if this is not available get distilled water from the chcm'st. Never use soua or ammonia, or your .hair will .become dry and brittle. Do not dry your hair before a fire; if possible, dry it out of doors. Never artificially flulf ju( your hair; “backcombing" is a deadly habit] that ends in breaking and spoiling the k line strands. \ Greasy hair should bo shampooed every fortnight. Dry locks are the better for a littlo olive oil massage ot.ee a week; use the finger-tips and work upwards, pressing the oil very gently into the scalp. Remember that the hair is delicate and requires tender handling. Remember, also, thav it breathes, and that it will fade and fall if - the pores are choked.
