CAT ATTACKS WOMAN.
! SILK STOCKINGS SPOILED. .. , . , ~ . I . Cats living in a wild state in the hollows of the disused Bamham-Chi-chester canal are becoming a serious menace. For the second time in a - few weeks one of these creatures attacked a passer-by, and neighbouring poultry-runs suffered severely. : An alarming experience while walking along the dried-up canal be<| with her dog was recounted recent* ly by Miss Dorothy Norman, of Bog* nor. “My dog, which was nosingin some dense undergrowth, suddenly, uttered a yelp, and dashed out with blood streaming from a wound near its eye,” she said. “It was closely, followed by a large cat with a mat* ted tawny coat. ; “On seeing me the cat crouched on the ground, lashing its tail, and then, without a moment’s warning, sprang forward to attack me. It had its claws,in my legs before I could move. I contrived to kick it away, but it turned on me more fe- ; rociously than ever. % w Fortunately, I carried a dog whip with a heavy butt, and managed to disable the animal. It was an unnerving experience while it lasted, but I am more concerned with the fact that it cost me a pair of perfectly good silk stockings! ” ;
