HINUERA.
Sunday School; Anniversary. The Hinuera Sunday School held their sixth anniversary on Sunday. This event is much looked forward to by the parents and children of j Hinuera, and the morning and eveni ing services were attended by large congregations. The services were conducted by Mr. James Treloar, of Hamilton, and his addresses, aided by drawings and symbolical objects, held the children enthralled I*
The singing by the children was something the district can be justly proud of, and Mr. Richard Hawke, under whose conductorship the children were trained, is to be complimented on the splendid manner in which the items were rendered. A duet entitled “Glad Message” was sung by Miss F. Settle and M. Cannell, assisted by the choir. A special item entitled “ What a Child May Be ” was sung by Misses N. Canneli, D. Hayes, M. Germapn and I. Germann (sopranos), F. Settle, J. Troughton and M. Hayes (altos), Messrs. H. Hawke and W. Oates (tenor and base), assisted by the full choir and orchestra. The choir consisted of Messrs. Tisch and Wheeler (clarionet), Hawes (double bass), W. Tisch (violin) and Mrs. Carlyon, of Hamilton (organist). Special mention should be made of the reciting of the psalms morning and evening by Masters James Pond and Frank Conder respectively. " The church was suitably decorated for the occasion with greenery and beautiful flowers.
Thanks are due to Mrs. Carlyon (organist) and Mr. R. Hawke (conductor) for their untiring efforts to make the anniversary services the pleasure and success they always are.
