NOTES. . < ' ; I » . * ’ • S •'' Matamata v. Walton. . * Matamata continued their match with Walton on Saturday and won * • ' easily. Dale and Ayres both batted imminently in opening the innings for Matamata, and retired with 24 v . and 27 runs respectively, to their credit. i Murray commenced well with hisbowling, but as the game progressed he was pitching up some very loose balls. .• i . j Vosper was uniupky to be dismissed with the first ball, as he is usually a fairly consistent scorer. On the Walton side the bowlingwas weak, and the fact that quite a - number of wickets fell quickly on the Matamata side can be accounted' for by the circumstance that a number of the players, were only put in to.have a “'hit.” ' With any ■ luck at all Matamata: should be h&rd to dispose of when, the next matches commence, ■ whichwill not be until January 21, a sixweek’s spell being given for the benefit of the farmers and the ' holiday-makers. .J
