Although active inquiries have "been made by the police, the person who bqrglarously entered the garage . ; l of Mr; Petry, in Studholme street, on Monday night, has not been apprehended. The thief entered the premises by way of a sliding door at the back, and decamped with a number of tools and spare parts. He also removed a bicycle, the property of Mr. Petry.
| Two other attempted burglaries [ were discovered on Tuesday morning, the back doors of Mr. Mallet’s shop in Thames street, and of Messrs Soanes and Butler, in Canada street, having been tampered with. An instrument .resembling a tyre lever was used on the doors, which, resisted the attempts. The work is evidently that of an amateur, as entry could have been made more easily by.l forcing a window. Constable Heeps arrested two men on suspicion on Tuesday and Thursday, but after exhaustive inquiries were made and their movements traced, they were released.
