From correspondence received from various quarters, it appeared impossible to have the shops and offices hours altered until the Act be amended.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The past president proposed that Mr. T. R. Davies be president. The office of chairman should go round. Mr. Davies declined, stating that Mr. Taylor had filled the position remarkably well, and should retain it. Mr. G. G. Bell endorsed. Mr. Coo.te supported, saying; that in Matamata the president of an organisation usually held office for two years. On Mr. Davies’ motion, Mr. Taylor was re-elected president. Vice-presidents, Messrs.
