YOUR LOCAL PAPER.

Nothing else on earth provides so much , instruction and entertainment for a small sum per week as does the provincial newspaper published twice weekly. A picture show, a concert, or a dance costs anything from Is to 10s 6d, as a rule, and yet these things are not comparable with the newspaper for variety and wide appeal. The reason why a merely nominal charge is made for a tiling so costly as a newspaper to produce is that the advertising revenue pays the great bulk of the costs of production, otherwise a paper like this one could not be sold for less than 2s 6d per copy. In view of the above statement, readers, when they buy from advertisers, would oblige by mentioning the fact that they saw tne advertisement in this paper. Such an intimation costs nothing to make, but it gives sure confidence to the business man as to tha effectiveness of advertising, and incidentally helps the publishers commercially, thereby enabling them to produce a bigger and better newspaper.
