STOCK SALES.
MAT AM ATA. Wednesday's sale conducted at Matamata by the Farmers' Auctioneering Company was generally satisfactory. There was a full yarding presented to a good attendance of buyers and bidding on the whole was of a most spirited nature. There was a rather poor showing of dairy Cattle, however, but beef lines were well represented. Practically everything was cleared. Prices were:—Beef cattle: Fat bullocks, £lO 12s; heavy fat cows, £6 12s Gd to £7 10s; lighter sorts, £5 to £6 ss; forward-condi-tioned cows, £3 10s to £4 15s; store cows, £1 15s to £2 17s 6d; 15-months steers, £2 7s to £2 10s 6d. Dairy cattle: Jersey heifers, r.w.b., £3 10s to £3 12s; Shorthorn heifers, r.w.b., £2 12s Gd to £3 Is; others, £1 5s to £2 4s. Sheep: Fat wethers, £1 14s; fat ewes, £1 9s 6d. Pigs: Light baconers, £2 10s to £2 17s; slips, £1 15s; weaners, £1 5s to £1 10s. FRANKTON. At the Farmers' Auctioneering Co.'s Frankton sale on Tuesday there was a fair yarding of cow beef (no ox beef being penned), also a medium yarding of fat and store sheep; fat pigs came forward in usual large numbers. Beef showed a considerable improvement on the previous week's while fat and store ,sheep were firm, fat pigs fceing slightly easier. Prime heavy fat cows, £8 12s to £9 Is; lighter prime, £7 Is to £7 17s; medium, £6 to £6 10s; light, £5 to £5 15s; unfinished, £4 to £4 15s; good framed store sows £3 to £3 15s; medium, £2 to £2 10s; 2-year steers, £4 lis, good conditioned well grown 18-months Jersey and Jersey cross heifers £3 12s 6d to £4; smaller, £2 to £2 10s; prime fat ewes, 34s 2d to 35s 8d; lighter 30s to 31s; prime 2tooths (mixed), 35s 6d; fat lambs, 31s to 3is 10d; forward ewes in wool 38s 9d; forward 4-tooth wethers, 33s 2d; smaller 29s 3d to 31s lid. Pigs: Heavy baconers, £3 5s to £3 10s; lighter £3 to £3 3s; good porkers to light baconers, £2 15s to £3; medium porkers £2 10s to £2 12s 6d; light, £2 2s to £2 8s; slips, 29s to 365; best weaners, £1 to 265; others, 16s to 18s. THE CHEESE MARKET. Messrs. Dalgaty and Company, Ltd., are in receipt of the following cable from their head office, London, under date of the Ist instant: —Cheese: Since our last wire prices are Is higher. LONDON MARKET. The Bank of New Zealand has received the following cable from London under date November 28:— Butter.—Steady demand 208 sto 210 s per cwt. Second grade 184 sto 1945.
Cheese.—Slow 90s per cwt, old sea son's 92s to 945.
Frozen Meat. The market for wethers is firm. The market for ewes quiet and unchanged. New Zealand lamb in short supply, prices nominal. Beef is dull owing to absence of demand. Wethers, light, 8d to Old per pound; wethers, heavy, 72d to 8d; ewes, Gld to 7id; new season's Australian lamb, 12k\ to 13id; ox hinds, 5?,d to sid; ox fores, Aid to Aid.
