TE POI.

SURPRISE PARTY. About fifty friends of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Jones, of Te Poi, who are about to leave the district, paid them a surprise visit on Monday night, when a very pleasant evening was spent in dancing, music and games. During the evening Mr. G. Bellamy, on behalf of the residents of Te Poi, presented Mr. and Mrs. Jones with a silver tea service, the speaker's tribute to the recipients being supplemented by the complimentary remarks of Mi-. T. Cotter.

Mr. Jones suitably responded, thanking the donors for their kindness, and expressing his and Mrs. Jones' regret at leaving so many warm-hearted friends.
