HINUERA.

METHODIST CHURCH ANNIVERSARY. The anniversary services of the Hinuera Methodist Church were held recently. Two services were held, morning and evening, and at each of these the Rev. P. Cooke was the preacher. The concerted singing of the children, under the directorship of Mr. R. Hawke, was pleasing in the extreme, while the orchestra, consisting of Mesdames Carlyon and Wheeler and Messrs. Hawes, Tisch and Wheeler accompanied the singers most tunefully. TENNIS COURTS. The intention of the Hinuera Tennis Club to have new courts prepared is reaching concrete form. Mr. S. Stockdale, of Matamata, who was the successful tenderer, has the work well in hand. A start was made with the concreting of the two specially prepared courts on Thursday last, and the same shoul be ready for playing upon by the end of the week. A big concrete mixer is at work, the gravel being obtained from a pit near the Waihou river and motor-lorried to the site. The mixer is drawn by a 2i h.p. engine, and the same was towed down from Matamata by a Ford truck, the journey being made in three-quarters of an hour. GENERAL. A 30 h.p. electric motor has been installed in the butter factory; the steam plant will still be retained, however, for auxiliary power.

An extra heavy load was Responsible for the off front wheel of a large lorry carting material to the Horahora power station coming off the other day. The lorry, with its load, still stays in its collapsed condition on the road near the Hinuera railway station. The Public Works Department has now had receipt of the last of the new turbines for the Horahora station, and the big piece of hardware Is in the Hinuera railway yard, waiting cartage to the power house.
