VALEDICTORY.
i DR. AND MRS. MUIR. The executive of the Matamata branch of the Plunket Society met at residence of the president, Mrs. H. J. Moore-Jones, on Monday evening last, in order to bid farewell to Dr. and Mrs. Muir, who are leaving Matamata. Mrs. Muir has been a menißer of the ordinary committee and Dr. Muir of the advisory committee of the branch since its inception. The party consisted of the ladies forming the executive, each of whom brought her husband (where available) with her. The evening was spent in games and 1 competitions, which resulted as fallows: Animali dompetition, won by Sister Ferguson; hidden articles, by Dr. Muir. During an inter Val in the revelry, Mrs. Muir was presented by Mr. Moore-Jones with a neat wooden card-tray, while the Doctor was the recipient from the hands of the president of a handsome illuminated address encased in a leather wallet. Feeling reference was made by all speakers of the good work done for : the Plunket Society by Dr. and Mrs. i Muir, and their healths were drunk with musical honours. Dr. Muir suitably replied and an enjoyable evening was brought to a close with the singing of the National Anthem and " Auld Lang Syne."
