WEDDING BELLS.
HEWLETT—DUXFIELD. A very pretty wedding of considerable interest to Matamata residents was solemnised on Tuesday, November 4, in All Saints' (Anglican) ■Church, Matamata, when Miss Amy Thackeray Duxfield, fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. J. Duxfield, of Matamata, was married to Mr. Joseph Stanley Hewlett, only son of Captain and Mrs. H. S. Hewlett, of Vincent avenue, Remuera. The Rev. W. E. Connolly was the officiating minister.
The church was nicely decorated for the occasion by friends of the bride, with guelder roses, asparagus and j white flowers, while a huge wedding bell, composed of white flowers and rose buds, was suspended over the bridal couple. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, to the strains of " The Voice That Breathed O'er Eden," played by the church organist (Mr. P. C. Ingham), was charmingly attired in a beautiful gown of white crepe de chene, daintily trimmed with pearls and orange blossoms. The skirt was draped to one side, revealing a handsome underpanel of silk radium lace, of which material the sleeves also were made. She wore a beautifully-1 embroidered tulle veil, which hung gracefully from a wreath of orange J blossoms. A bouquet of white roses and sweetpeas, intertwined with asparagus and maiden hair fern and white satin streamers, completed an exquisite toilette. The bridesmaid, Miss Flora Duxfield, sister of the bride, was attired in a very dainty pink and mauve floral frock,' with mauve satin streamers. She wore a pretty mauve hat with pink trimmings, and carried a lovely bouquet of pink roses, mauve sweet peas, and asparagus and maiden hair fern. Mr R. Rollett acted as best man.
After the ceremony, which was fully choral, the bridal couple left the church amid showers of confetti to the strains of Mendelssohn's Wedding March, played by Mr. P. C. Ingham. The bridal party then adjourned to " Riverdale," the home of the bride's parents, where the wedding breakfast was partaken of and the customary toasts honoured.
Mrs. Duxfield, mother of the bride, received her guests in a becomingfrock of black duchesse mousseline, with cream lace fichu and smart black panne velvet hat with silver mountings. She carried a lovely bouquet of violets and maidenhair fern. Mrs. Hewlett, mother of the bridegroom, was attired in a smart,; black beaded: silk merve frock, with j jade beaded jumper, a mole panne j velvet hat with jade ornaments and j a black marabout; Miss Duxfield, : sister of the bride, smart embossed | blue and gold marocain frock with hat to match; Miss E. Duxfield, apricot silk crepe madeline with black picture hat; Miss Winifred Duxfield, shell pink figured georgette; Mrs. C. W. Blennerhassett (Peria), sister of the bride, primrose floral frock with pretty hat to match; Mrs. J. E. Duxfield (Puketurua), silver grey figured crepe merle and smart silver grey hat with pink trimmings; Mrs. T. McLaren (Manawaru), aunt of the bride, smoke grey gaberdine coat frock and smart black hat; Miss McLaren, braided navy serge frock with pretty brown hat; Mrs. A. T. Duxfield (Raurimu), aunt of the bride, grey gaberdine costume, black hat; Mrs. R. P. Kinlock (Haupai), aunt of the bride, smart brown cor- . duroy velvet dress, with fox furs; j , Miss Kinlock (Auekland), aunt of, the bride, grey costume and black fur, with smart black hat; Mrs. W. E. Connolly, mole taffeta frock and fox furs; Miss M. Southee (Raurimu), jade green crepe suede with pretty white hat. The newly-wedded couple left by the Auckland express for their honeymoon, amid showers of confetti and good wishes from their many friends. The bride travelled in a smart navy marocain coat frock with cerise trimmings and a most becoming hat of fawn satin with navy and cerise jazz brim and a navy and fawn osprey mount. ' Mr. and Mrs. Hewlett were the recipients of many beautiful and valuable presents, including some substantial cheques. The newly-married couple will take up their residence at Uruti, Waitara.
