MATAMATA TOWN BOARD.

RESIGNATION OF MR. BENNETT. At last night’s meeting of the Matamata Town Board a letter was received from one of the members, Mr. W. E. Bennett, tendering his resignation of bis seal; on (lie Board. “ I have arrived at this decision after full consideration of all the circumstances surrounding- my position on the Board,” were the concluding words of Mr. Bennett’s letter. The chairman moved the acceptance of Mr. Bennett’s resignation, expressing at the same time his sincere regret, that the circumstances in which Mr. Bennett was placed rendered his taking such a step necessary. The motion was seconded by Mr. S. Salisbury an! carried by the Board. A vacancy, therefore now exists upon the Matamata Town Board and the customary by-clection should eventuate shortly,
