MATAMATA TOWN BOARD
Fortnightly Meeting The fortnightly meeting of the Matamata Town board was held on Thursday evening, (he members present being: Messrs. •). Price (chairman), W. A. Gordon, A. Stewart, F. 10. Lark, and T. K. Davies. Leave of absence was granted Messrs. J. W. Simpson and G. G. Bell. The clerk (Mr. B. Blennerhassctt) was absent through indisposition. The chairman /stated that Mr. Simpson, under doctor’s orders, was compelled to remain at home for the time being in the evenings. UC/AD METAL. The manager of the Tirohia Quarry Company advised that his company at present was unable to supply mend required by the Bond. The chairman stated that the order was for li inch metal, and screenings, hut that this should be to hand soon. Mr. Davies said some of the roads were murderous. 'Die chairman: And the metal question is murderous, too. HYDRO-ELECTRIC BOARD. The secretary of the Thames Valley Hydro-Electric Board wrote as follows: —“ Under separate cover lam posting copies of .plans and specifications for the proposed No. 2 depot for the Board at Matamata. The estimated cost of the building is approximately. £I6OO. Kindly issue permit to erect same and obtain the necessary Board of Trade perm’it. Will you kindly give prospective contractors access to plans, etc?” The chairman stated that the letter had been replied to by the clerk. WATER SUPPLY. The Hon. Sir Win. Herries acknowledged the Board’s telegram asking for permission to clear a track through the Government forest reserve at Okauia for the laying of pipes in connection with the water scheme, and .-fated that lie would have pleasure in interviewing the-Minister in charge of the Forestry Department on the Board’s behalf. OVERHANG IN G HE DGES. On the motion of Messrs. Lark and Davies, it was decided to give notice to certain residents that all overhanging hedges must be cut back clear of footpaths. On the chairman's suggestion, the eradication of noxious weeds was incorporated in the motion. ALLEGED BUILDING WITHOUT PERMIT. it was decided to. cuke proceedings against Messrs. and Co., Ltd., for alleged breach of the bylaws in building without a permit. The buildings in a-.ostion were extensions to the “ Glaxo ’’ factory and the new hostel.
