Airfare Rise

Rumours have it that airfares to the Cook Islands will increase in the near future.

Round figures are not yet confirmed but will be soon. It means many things for Cook Islanders. It means risking permanent departure from the Cook Islands and at the same time it sort of

practically bars Cook Islanders (those who can ill afford it) from trying their luck here in New Zealand. However, it is not Air New

Zealand’s fault if they increase the fare. The fault lies with our own people and leaders for allowing Air New Zealand to hold a monopoly on our own airport. It is a lesson that we must not, as Cook Islanders, ignore lightly otherwise we will never surface out of this now or at any other time.
