“NINE GIRLS”
TUESDAY NEXT Since Columbia's “Nine Girls" is the screen adaptation of a successful Broadway play of the same title, patrons of the Embassy Theatre can expect something way above the average , in the mystery-murder line when it opens on Tuesday next. Advance notices proclaim it the year’s most baffling mystery. That is easily imaginable when one inspects the cast of feminine allure which has been gathered to interpret the intricaccs of its exciting plot. There’s blonde and glamorous Evelyn Keyes; cover girl Jinx Ealkenburg; lovely dovelike Anita Louise; Lynn Merrick, who is ■ said to have the role of her career; intriguing Nina Eoch; port and impish Jeff Donnell; blonde Leslie Borrks; and the glorious and gracious Ann Harding who is playing in her second ‘‘comeback’’ after her long retirement. f Reports state that while this is a play about primitive emotions, there is an abundance of comedy. The gruesome details of murder are left to the imagination. i
“ TARZAN’S DESERT MYSTERY ” THURSDAY NEXT Once again Johnny Weissmuller comes to the fore to thrill you with the adventures of that superman of the jungle, Tarzan. The picture has a good story and Maureen Sullivan is again the mate of Tarzan. ‘ ‘ Boy ’ ’ (Johnny Sheffield), is rapidly becoming most proficient as Tarzan’s son and can imitate the athletic actions of Weissmuller almost to perfection. The picture is among the tops for really good entertainment.
