GLENORCHY NOTES
Tennis. A mixed doubles tournament was played on Saturday last for the Knowles’ buttons. Eight pairs took part in ideal playing weather. Included among the players wore several visitors ithoso play provided additional interest. The winners were Airs Burt and S. McPherson with 12 points; the runners-up being Miss Naismith and McCambridge and Mrs Bowden and K. Sutherland with 11 points each. The following are the detailed results:— Eirst Bound.—Mrs Bowden and K. Sutherland 3,. Mrs Olvcr and King 3; Mrs Vernon and Olver 6, Mrs Sutherland and Burt 0; Miss Naismith and McCambridge 3, Mrs 1). Scott and Rhodes 3; Mrs P, Scott and Ballinger 3, Mrs Burt and S. McPherson 3. Second Round.—Mrs Bowden and K. Sutherland 3, Mrs Vernon and Olver 3; Mrs Olver and King 3, Mrs Sutherland and Burt 3; Mrs P. Scott and Ballinger 3, Miss Naismith and McCambridge 3; Mrs B. Scott and Rhodes 3, Mrs Burt and S. McPherson 3. Third Round.—Mrs Bowden and K. Sutherland 5, Mrs D. Scott and Rhodes 1; Mrs Burt and McPherson (i, Mrs Sutherland and Burt 0;' Mrs Olver and King 4, Mrs P. Scott and Ballinger 2; Miss Naismith and McCambride 5, Mrs Vernon and Olver 1. The trophies were presented in the evening when a very successful dance was held. Winners of novelty dances were Mr and Mrs C. Hume, lucky spot; Mr and Mrs R. E. Olver, Monte Carlo, Music was supplied by Mrs Sutherland, Mrs D. Scott, K. Sutherland with extras by Mrs Smith, Miss Eva Scott and Graham Scott. It is proposed to play a match of mixed doubles, Rees Valley versus Glcnorchy on Saturday.
