WINTER HOME FOR BELL-BIRDS

The songs of tuis and bell-birds have been heard more frequently in Bledisloe Park and the adjoining grounds of Massey Agricultural College, Palmerston North, this winter. The feathered songsters taking up their quarters there are increasing each year, due to the planting in the college grounds of more and more nectar-bearing trees and shrubs, mostly Australian varieties, which flower in winter.
