HOSPITAL BELLS

A boll is hanging by your bed If you only press the end, A nurse will hurry to your side All your wishes to attend. But think, before you press the bell Just pause a moment pray, for do you really need the nurse, Before she comes your way? Think how they’re running all day long Think how that running tells; In weary, aching feet at night Through running answering bells. Though they’re always smiling When they come to your bedside, You cannot tell the weariness That gentle smile may hide. Thou bravely try to bear your pain And do not whine and moan, And if you do not need the nurse, Just leave y r our bell alone. And do not ring for every whim Both in and out of season, .Make a rule, don’t touch your bell, Unless you have a reason, Alice Mackenzie.
