FAREWELL AT LOWER SHOTOVER
There was a good attendance at the dance held at Lower Shotover hall on Monday last for the farewell to A.C.2 Alex McLean, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Jas. McLean. Mr J. A. Bagrie, chairman of the Soldiers Committee who was the principal speaker, referred to the esteem n which Airman McLean was held and of his usefulness in the district in farming pursuits. He wished ( him every fortune and a speedy return. Mr M. Elliott, chairman of the Arrowtown Committee, and Mr W. James, mayor of Arrowtown, also wished A.C.2 McLean the best of luck. Mr J. S. Brown .spoke on behalf of the Country Club and Mrs D. Anderson, as president, for the Arrow branch of the W.D.F. U. A formal presentation was made to the guest of honour of a fountain pen by the Arrow Committee and a monetary gift by Mrs Anderson on behalf of the W.D.F.U. Musical honours were given after which the recipient replied. The music by the Cromwell orchestra and a splendid supper contributed much to the enjoyment of the evening.
