WEDDING.

CHRXSInE— DOUGLAS

A very pretty wedding of wide interest hi the district was solemnised 1 at Sit. Paul’s. Church, Arrowtown, on the afternoon of September ,9th, between Helen Clare, only daughter of Mr and Mrs J. H. Douglas/, Airawtown, and Archibald, second son of Mr and Mrs A. Christie, of Havelock North, Hawkes Bay. The Rev J. 0. Russell was the officiating mMs/tere while Mr R E. Romans presided at the organ. . The churcih was attractively decorated .by friends of the bride. 'The bride ! made a lovely picture, as she entered the church, on the arm of heir father, j Her gown .of magnolia satin was fashioned on empire lines. 'The. bodice, | with a bateau-shaped neck forming a j soft cowl in front, was. finished with a row of tiny satin-covered button® down the back, as were the _ longfitting sleeves which ended in a. point over the hand, The graceful skirt was cut to form a long train which was edged with Valenciennes lace. Her beautifully embroidered tulle veil was. arranged with a coronet of tiny orange blossom buds, and she carried a bouquet of .cream lilies, camelias', and maidenhair fern. Miss Jessie Reid attended as bridesmaid, wearing a pretty frock of chartreuse-green self patterned taffetas. The heart-shaped neckline was finished with narrow pleating, which also edged the short pulled sleeves and softly flared skirt. In her hair she wore a spray of frees ias and pink camelias, and she carried a bouquet of pink camelias., mauve anemones, and maidenhair fern. The flower girl, little Patricia Rowe (cousin of the bride), looked sweet in her long green frock similar to that of the bridesmaid. She wore a spray of flowers/ in her hair, and carried a posy to match. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Graham Douglas (brother of the bride), and Mr D. R. Rowe acted as usher. After the ceremony a reoeptio.ll was held at Ayirburn, where masses, of spring flowers were beautifully arranged. The guests were received by Mrs J. H. Douglas, who Looked charming an a long model gown of navy-blue georgette. Embroidered net flowers, with a touch of Patou pink, were inset on the bodice and long full sleeve®, the neckline being finished with a pink posy. Her becoming hat was. of navy pedal straw, and she carried a bouquet of pink cyclamens and hyacinths. Mrs Douglas was asassisted by the bridegroom’® mother, Mrs A. Christie, who wore a smartensemble of navy-blue crepe romaine. The three-quarter coat was scallopededged and caught at the neck with a brilliant clip . Her navy hat of chip-straw had a brief matching veil. Her bouquet was of scarlet anemones. Mrs D. M. Cochrane, of Gore, aunt of the bride, wore a long graceful frock of brown satin-backed crepe,■ trimmed on sleeves and bodice with multi-coloured bead braiding and a flame-coloured posy. Her hat was of matching brown straw with wreath of flowers. Mrs D. R. Rowe, of Ayrrium. wore a smart suit and hat of teal-blue relieved with scarlet. For travelling the bride wore, a. dank brown tailored suit, with maize-colour-ed jumper, tan hat, and tan accessories. The future home of Mr and Mrs i Christie will be at Gisborne.
