Mrs J. W. Wallace and Miss iSTgaio Wallace are holidaying at Bluff. Mrs Prior left on Thursday to spend a holiday in Dunedin. Miss E. Hare of Dunedin, has been holidaying in Queenstown. Miss Bessie Manson of Invercargill is visiting Queenstown. Mr Bullard of Wellington is the guest of Mr and Mrs R. J. Fuller. Mr J. Buckham left on Monday on a visit to Dunedin. Miss Linda Edwards Left on Saturday .on a visit to Dunedin. Mrs J. B. Hamilton and family are holidaying in Dunedin. Mr and Mrs J. Cadenhead of Christchurch are holidaying in Queenstown. Mrs J. McChesmey of Invercargill is spending a holiday in Queenstown. Mr Topping has returned to Invercargill after spending a holiday in Queenstown. Miss Jean Thomson, “Kawcka.” left on Monday for a short visit to Southland. Mrs M. Davis and family, left on Friday for Dunedin, where they have taken up residence. Miss Hvndman has returned to Invercargill' after spending a holiday in Queenstown. > Mr A. G. Tomkies of Wanganui is the guest of Mr and Mrs H. Tomkies. Miss Crawford and Miss Couttshave returned to Dunedin after spending a holiday in Queenstown. Mr and Mrs L. Ackhurst and Mrs Lindsay Trotter of Invercargill, are spending a holiday in Queenstown. Miss Gath. McGregor .and Miss T. Pennington, of Invercargill, .are spending a fortnight’s holiday in Queenstown. Miss Molly Percy Left on Saturday morning for Lumsden, where she will be the guest of her parents, Mr and Mrs J. Percy.. Dr. and Mrs H. Walden Fitzgerald and family of Dunedin, are holidaying in private residence in Queenstown. Mr 0. C. Cook of Oamaru is among late arrivals in Queenstown. Mr Cook is a keen bowler, and no doubt will spend a lot of time on the Park greens. Mrs Holliday and her son, Clutha, motored through from Waitalic and spent the week-end camping in Queenstown Miss Dorothy Marshall loft Queenstown on Sunday for her home in Oamaru. I ' / » Mr Ray Tomkies has returned to Dunedin after spending a. holiday with his parents, Mr and Mrs H. Tomkies. Mr and Mrs Cliff Hall and young daughter of Greymouth spent a holiday in Queenstown, recently and were the guests of Mr Hall’s parents, Mr and Mrs Jas. Hall. One Mile. Mrs A. Gooding (nee Amanda Smith), formerly of Arthurs Point and now of Greymouth, is the guest of her brother, Mr W. Smith. Mrs Gooding has been looking up old friends in the district. Mrs J. Percy returned to Lumsden on Thursday after being the guest of her daughter, Miss Esther Percy, Melbourne St. Major and Mrs Bridge, of Dunedin, Mrs Gordon. Auckland, and Mr Rapier of Dunedin, motored through from the city for the week-end. Major Bridge conducted the services at the local Salvation Array Hall on Sunday last. . Captain Laskey and Lieut. Aitke.n arrived in Queenstown last week to take charge of the Salvation Army Corps here. Mr W. M. Fraser, Clerk of Court at Cromwell, is at present performing relieving duties at the local court during the absence of Mr Cockerill on leave.
Mrs McCormick of Ctoaebum Station Left on Wednesday for Tarawa. She was accompanied by Miss McFee, of Melbourne, who has been her guest. Major P. Mackenzie went to Christchurch to attend the meeting of the SI. Acclimatisation Societies', and returned on Friday. Mr and Mrs V. McDougall have returned from Bluff, where they were the guests of Mrs McDougall’s mother, Mrs Hamilton. Mr Stuart Miles of Tuatapere is spending his annual leave with his parents in Queenstown. Mrs W. H. Berry returned to Invercargill during the week after spending a holiday in Queenstown. Miss Ena Lynch of the Southland Hospital staff "has taken up duty at the Pranktou Hospital. Mrs H. Packe of Gisborne. accompanied by her sister-in-law, Mrs Buck worth, from England, are visiting Queenstown. Air Packe was a former vicar of St. Peter’s Parish. Mr P. W. J. CockeriU. the local Clerk of the Court, left Queenstown Last Thursday on animal leave. During the course of this leave lie will be attending the annual camp of the 3rd (INEZ.) Composite Battalion _ at Waikouaiti of which unit he is an officer. Mrs L. Codings and family of Clyde spent a holiday recently as the guest of her parents, Mr and Mrs H. Buckham. Mrs E. Jones and her young sop, Bichard, returned to their home in Dunedin at the week end, after spending an enjoyable holiday. They wore the guests of Mrs W. Summers. Mr Goo. Towns, representative of Govt. Life Insurance, is paying his periodical visit to the town. Mr Geo. Hannah of Invercargill, is speeding a few days with relatives in Queenstown. The Eev. and Mrs Chitty and Miss ’Chitty of Auckland, have been holidaying in Queenstown. Mr Chitty officiated at the organ at the services in St. Peter’s Church on Sunday last. Miss Phyllis: Carmichael of Christchurch. has been holidaying in Queenstown. Mrs J. Garbutt and Mists Isobel Garbutt have returned to Dunedin after spending a holiday in Queenstown. Mr and Mrs E. K. Mills have returned to Invercargill after spending a holiday in Queenstown. The Misses Elizabeth and Jean Snowden, and Messrs J. A. and B. Snowden, of Lyttelton, were among recent visitors "to Queenstown.
The Minister of Labour, Hon. H. T. Arm* strong, will visit Queenstown at the weekend. Mr R, L. Wigley and his son, Mr H. Wigley, of Timaru, arrived by ’plane yesterday and are spending a few days in the town. Mr and Mrs T. Somerville of Dunedin, accompanied by Mr and Mrs J. Wilson, of Dublin, Ireland, and Mrs Woodman, of Plymouth, England, paid a short visit to Queenstown yesterday and went on to Pern - brt ke to-day. Miss Joy Robertson of Dunedin is holidaying in Queenstown. Misses Helene Denford and Ailso Armstrong of Dunedin, are on a holiday visit to Queenstown. Mr and Mrs G. Wilson and Miss Ehona Foster of Waimate, are holi-day-making in Queenstown. The Misses Audrey and Joan Langford of Christchurch, are visiting Queenstown. Mr D, Boss and two sons, Colin and Charles, of Invercargill, are amongst guests at the Mountaineer Hotel. Mr John Anderson, of Auckland, who has been visitinpr relatives and. friends in Queenstown, left for the north at the week-end. Mr and Mrs E. McKay of Australia, who have been visiting Mr McKays father in Invercargill, are at present the guests of Mr and Mrs O. H. McKay, Eastern Terrace. Misses Winnie and Mavis Ritchie of Cromwell are the guests' of Mr and Mrs John Eitchie. Queenstown. On Saturday evening last a most enjoyable party was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs H. Buchanan, when members of the Country Football Club and other friends met to congratulate Mr and Mrs Buchanan on their recent marriage. During the supper interval, Mr Jas. McDonald, president of the Country Football Club asked Mr Buchnanan to accept a roll of notes as a token of the esteem in which he was held, and on behalf of the dull, wished him and Mrs Buchanan the best of luck in their married life. Mr T. Mulhern also spoke on behalf of the Queenstown Football club. Mr Bpchanan thanked the speakers for their kindly wishes and also for the gift. The singing of “For Thev are Jolly Good Fellows and “Auld Lang Syne" terminated a very happy evening.
