DANGEROUS POINT ON THE ROADS.

A A. the’ Lake County Council meeting- on Tuesday Last tli.e chairman ('Mi* Li. Leo) took occasion to refer lo the criticism that had been levelled at the Council owing to a Larry having gone over the bank on the Frankton road. Several accidents had occurred recently at the same spot. He wanted the Council to know, however, that it had no jurisdiction over this road since it had been taken over by the Public Works Department and placed in the category of a State highway. In this particular case the lorry, which was laden with timber, took a good deal of risk in passing another vehicle on the road. The wheel marks showed that the wheels of the lorry were over the edge for a distance of two chains. It was decided to draw the attention of the Public Works fDepartment to the danger existing at the spot referred to and the Inspector was instructed to put some white posts on the outside of the road in the meantime.

Or. Cockburn also drew attention to a dangerous point on the Kingston road about three-quarters of a mile past what is known as the 2-mile. It was at a turn in the road and the grade was fairly steep. It was decided in this cose also that the Public Works Department be written to on the matter.
