(From Our Own Correspondent). The Weather ‘ ‘. After a long spell of dry weather wc have had a good soaking steady rain, the benelicial results of which have been most marked on the crops of the district. Another factor bringing prosperity to the door off the local farmer is the rising price of wool, especially crossbred. As a result of the passing of the slump and of the improvement in the district reading, the motor traffic passing through/ Garston to and Jrom our tourist resorts, has shown a remarkable increase. While pea** manent campers are fewer than of yore, the motor caravan, the Arabs -of this mechanised age, comes stealing up-in the cool of the evening. Tents are spread and in the morning—not so silently—car and trailer proceed on the way. 1 .! i If ' i Wedding 1 1 ! I ( : 3 On the 12th January the wedding took place of Alary AlcNamee, only daughter of Airs and the late Mr P. A. AlcNamee, Garston, to Stanley George, youngest son of Air and Airs W. Alenlove, Queenstown. The ceremony was performed at the home of the bride’s aunt, Mrs Staunton, AVest Plains, It was con* ducted by the Eev. Father Murphy, a relative of the bride, who was given, away by her uncle, Air J. Staunton, in the presence of a large assembly of relatives and friends. -Both bride and bridegroom are members of old and highly respected families. The numerous guests hailed from all parts of the district between Queenstown and Invercargill. The bride looked charming in a frock of magnolia satin with a beautiful veil and. if there is truth in the old adage, “Happy is the bride that the sun shines on," much happiness awaits thisi bride for glorious sunshine greeted her on her wedding morning The chief bridesmaid,. Miss McCaughan, cousin of the bride, wore a pastel shade of green, and the two small train boarefs wore pretty floral flocks. The bridegroom was at* tended by Air Arthur Johnston (Lums* den). At the close of the ceremony, the bridal party and guests motored into Invercargill for the breakfast, which was partaken of at Elmwood Gardens, and Airs AlcNamee, the bride’s mother, who wore black with scarlet shoulder spray and Aire Alenlove, the bnde* groom's mother, in pretty brown printed crepe de cbene, with hat and shoes to tone, received the guests. A lengthv toast list was gone through The health of the bridal couple was proposed by the Eev. Father Alurphy; the bride’s parents, by Air J. H. Gordon. Garston; the bridegrooms parents by Air Alex Boy, Mossbum Later the happy pair left on a motoring tour.
