WAR ON SLANG

School children who say “ Okay !” on every possible occasion are to enjoy a gentle corrective course at the English School Theatre, which opens in London this month. Mrs Beatrice King, honorary secretary of the theatre, recently returned from Russia, where she saw 65 thetares for children. “In Russia,” she says, “the movement is a success. In Britain children are coming to look on the cinema as their only place of entertainment. 1' rom that springs their slang. We want to counteract it by presenting plays in properly spoken English.
