Miss Rita McNeill, of the Caversham school staff, who has been spending the term holidays in Queenstown, returned to Dunedin yesterday. Mr and Mrs S. McDonald and Mr and Mrs A, W. McDonald and Miss Joan, have been among Invercargill people holidaying in Queenstown. Mrs J. Childs of Nelson was a recent visi* tor to Queenstown. Mrs Thos. Houston returned from Invercargill daring the week. Mr H. Coxhead. secretary to the Mt. Jook Tourist Co„ I'imaru, was in Queenstown during the week. Mr and Mrs Alexander of Wanganui were among rt cent visitors to the Lakes, i Mr H. D. Climie returned last night from a visit to the North Island. Mrs E. Halstead, Dunedin, and her daughter. Mrs Fieidlander of Te Awamutu . and the latter’s son, Ted, spent a couple of days in Queenstown during the week. Miss R. Liddell, who has for the past two and a-half years been in the employment of Queenstown general merchanls, left yesterday morning for Dunedin, en route to Christchurch. The Rev. de Lambertland Mrs de Lambert returned yesterday from a visit to Wanaka and Northburn stations. Mrs J. B, Hamilton accompanied her school-boy son lan back to Dunedin yesterday. Miss Jean Hamilton also accompanied her mother. Mr and Mrs David Ritch e, Bannockbum, and Mrs V. Johnston of Cromwell were guests of Mr and Mrs John Ritchie of Queenstown for the week-end. Mr and Mrs M. Taylor are awy for. their annual holidays. Miss Thelma Strang took up her duties at the local public school to-day. Miss Arnott, teacher of the Glenordiy school, returned to the Head of the Lake yesterday by steamer. Miss Anderson of the Chatto Creek school, broke the journey at Queenstown over the week-end on her return to her duties after the vacation. Mrs Lawson Robinson, wife of the Rev. Lawson Robinson of St. Andrew’s Church, Christchurch, and formerly Minister of St. Paul’s Invercargill, is in occupation of a furnished house in Hallenstein iSt.. She has her daughter, Miss Pauline, with her on holiday. Miss J. C. Thomson returned during the week from a visit to Invercargill and Auckland, to which latter port she accompanied her niece. Miss Nancy Gilkison, who has now left the Dominion on a visit to Great Britain. Mrs John Gilkison, Invercargill, is the guest of her sister. Miss J. C. Thomson, at Kawoka Cottage, Hallenstcin St. Miss Barbara Grant, of “Grand-’ view,” Lower Shotovcr. was a passenger to Invercargill yesterday by the afternoon bus. She was accompanied by her nieces. Misses Jean and Phyllis Hansen. Mr and Mrs Hugh Mackenzie and family motored up from Diptou on Saturday and spent the day in Queenstown. Mr Mackenzie took part in the day’s shooting on the Wakatipu I). Rifle Club’s range. Mrs Outdance, of Rval Bush, who has been a visitor to Walter Peak station, accompanied them south on their return journey in the evening. Amongst those who came from Invercargill on Friday for the obsequies of the late Mrs Timpany were her husband, Mr John Timpany, and her son. Mr Bert. Timpany; Mr R. Timpany, brother-in-law, Mr John Miller. Mayor of Invercargill, and Mr McKenzie, a friend of deceased. A very quiet wedding took place in St. Joseph’s Church early yesterday afternoon, the contracting parties being Mr Joseph Hanning, of Invercargill. and Miss Mav Mcßride, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. J. Mcßride, Queens)own. The Rev. Father Ardagb was the olliciating priest. Miss Ellen Mcßride, sister of the bride, was the bridesmaid and Mr J. T. Lynch acted in tie' capacitv of best man. Mr and Mrs Manning left for Invercargill by the afternoon bus. The young couple will make their home in Invercargill.
