Mrs Pettersson is visiting friends in Dunedin.
Mr N. M. Hyndman, Invercargill, is on a short visit to Queenstown. Mr and Mrs P. Reid returned to "Glenpanel, ’ Lower Shotover, on Friday.
Mr Arthur Parrant has gone to Christchurch on holiday.
Mr Tiros. Houston, the Two Mile, returned during the week from a visit to Dunedin.
Messrs D. F. Sutherland, junr., and Jas. Sutherland have been on a short visit to Dunedin.
Mr John Madden, chief postmaster, Dunedin, and his wife are visiting Queenstown.
Mr and Mrs I. Mitchell of the post office, Mataura. are the guests of Mr and Mrs P. T. Lynch.
Last Wednesday Mrs Tiros. Houston and Miss Margt, Hamilton motored to Alexandra for the?bi-annual conference of the combined Central Otago branches of the P.W.M.U., to which they were appointed as St. Andrew’s delegates. Mr J. 0. Collins, electrical engineer, who has been appointed to make an overhaul of the meters in the town, will arrive in Queenstown to-morrow. The Rev. D. K. Boyd attended the periodical meeting of the Central Otago Presbytery held at Alexandra on Wednesday.
Major r. Mackenzie returned on Friday from a visit to Dunedin on military business. Mr and Mrs H. Knowles and family returned on Friday from Waitati, where they had been on holiday. Mr Thos. "Rutherford, manager of the Grand Hotel, Invercargill, and formerly of Hotel Eichardt, Queenstown, arrived here on Wednesday on a short visit. He was accompanied by Mrs Rutherford. Miss Nancy Houston, who is on the nursing staff at Seacliff Mental hospital, has been on a visit to her parents, Mr and Mrs Thos. -Houston, the Two Mile, Queenstown. Miss Violet Roycroft returned to Queenstown on Friday after an absence of some weeks. Miss Roycroft spent some of the time in Lawrence assisting a Queen Carnival enter-
prise. The Duchess of Kent gave birth to a son at her Belgrave Square house at 2.15 a.m. on Wednesday last The new Prince ranks as the sixth gentleman in the land ’ and stands seventh in the line of succession to the throne. Mr B. V. Wright of the local branch of the Bank of N.Z. is_ on his annual leave. Mr W right is taking part in the N.Z. Golf championships tieimr played on the Shirley links at Christchurch. In the onen Championshin his scores in the first and second rounds, played on Friday and Saturday were 75 and 78, respectively. Yesterday the Open was concluded with A. Murray, winner, 288.
