Mr and Mrs Paco, Dinted,in, are in residence at “Sans Souci.” Mrs T- if. Houston, Lower S,hotover was a passenger by the stearner on Friday morning. Mrs J. Olsen. Cecil Peak, is visiting Dunedin. ««r and Mrs J. Wals.li, Queenstown, have gone to the Dunedin Show., Mrs J. E. O’Connell and son Maurice were among district people who went, yesterday to Dunedin. Mr E. J. Mackenzie, who has been at Walter Peak station for some weeks relumed yesterday to Ringway R idge-s. Mr R. J. McCouville, of the local P. and T. stall', went away yesterday on his annual leave. He was accompanied by his wife and two small sons. Mrs McHeiny went yesterday to Dunedin, where she will be v the guest of her sister-in-law. Mrs Alex. Mcßride. Mr and Mrs D. H. Cockbunn travelled yesterday to Dunedin. Mrs J. E. Reid, Glenorchy, is the guest of Mrs F. Buncombe for a few days. Miss Eva Davies leave,si here tomorrow on a visit to Taurangia arid other places in the North Island. Mr Jo. Miller, .ol the. local Bank of N.Z. stall', left here yesterday on his annual leave. The death occurred at Wellington on Sunday of Major-General Sir Alfred W. Robin.Mr W. J. Horc arrived here last night from Ran Turly to relieve at the local Post Office. Mr W. S'. Reid of “ Willow-brook,’ was among' passengers to Dunedin on Friday. Mr and Mrs Jas. C. Scott have gone, to Dunedin lor- Show week. " Mrs J. H. Davies, Gorge Road, and her two youngest children., left here on Wednesday on a visit to relatives in Dunedin amid Invercargill. Mrs Irwin Hunter and Mrs Jago went to Dunedin at the week-end on a short visit. Mr and Mrs A. F. Grifli.ii motored to Dunedin on Sunday. Mr Griffin and the County chairman will represent the Lake County Council at the Counties’ Conference, with the Automobile Assoc fat ion.

Mr D. F. Sutherland and Miss Barbara Sutherland went to Dunedin during' the week for the Show. The Hon. A. F. Hawke and Miss Hawke, who have been in Queenstown since February, returned to Inveucargill on Wednesday. Mr H. Kennedy returned to Tomuka on 'Wednesday after paying a visit to his parents, Ca.pt. and Mrs J. Kennedy. Mr J. Mackenzie Walter Peak, is in Dunedin* attending the. annual meeting of the Otago branch of the N.Z. Sheepow ners’ Federation. Mrs D. F. Murchison went to Cromwell on Saturday morning for the Davis —Grant wedding which took place tlieroi at 5.30 p.m. Among those who were presented with their diplomas at the recent capping ceremony at Otago University was, Mfsis ‘ Julie Constance O’kaue, daughter of Mr and Mrs J. J. O’Kane of Alexandra, who received a certificate of proficiency in Dental Surgery. Winners of the James Clark prizes, presented to Otago University by the Theological College Committee of the-Presbyterian Church, included Miss Marguerite Jopp Martin, 8.A., daughter of a former Arrow-town resident. Mrs Martin (nee Mists, Tot tie Jopp). Miss Martin .was awarded the history prize.
