MINING JOTTINGS.

BIG RETURN FROM GOLDEN ARROW. The Go'den Arrow Company w&Shed up on Saturday, and obtained the highly siitisihac.tory return of 112 'ounces loir 16 days'’ actual work. This is the, largest return got by the Company so far. The, paddock taken out ii a short distance, above Cooper Vs Terrace, and big returns were, obtained in that Locality, in the early days. Seven men are employed, including the manager, Mr Jas. E. Smith.

NEW COMPANY FORMED. The Junction Reward Company, which has recently been legislterad, holds an area of ground in Bush Creek from the junction of the creek with the Golden Arrow diaim in the Arrow River. The ground will be worked by hydraulic sinking, the Company having obtained a waiter right from the Government inrigagatdon pipe line. The plant has already been ordered, and will be deli veied on the claim in about a fortnight’s time, it is intended to, commence operations, in the tod of the cueek near Mr R. Mibcherliseh’s residence. The directors of the new company are-: Messrs J. D. Campbell (chairman), Collie, and Rae, InveroargllH; t and James Shaw, Arrowtown. ’ lii

THE GOLDFIELDS DREDGE. The secretary of the GoldtieiMis Dredging Co., Ltd, reports that the return for the week ended last Friday was 300-z 3dwt for 111 hours’ dredging.

MACETOWN DEVELOPMENTS, Ltd. The mine manager of Macetown Developments reports that last week he made a preliminary survey of the Homeward Bound lode system. At the eastern end near the old battery, numbers one and three lodeis were opened oout, number one being four feet wide, and number three 12 feet wide. At a location near the portal of the low level the survey disclosed four lodes. Numbers two and four were stripped, number two showing ing nice looking quartz for a width of four feet. 'The gold observed has an incrustation of carbonate of iron coating it. Number four lode showed a width of five feet between two nice looking quartz for a width On its strike in both directions it is overlain by broken schist country.
