LADIES’ SECTION. A stroke competition over 18 holes for a golf ba.Ll, was ployed in the ladies’ section on Saturday.' The trophy was won -by Miss Geisow with a nett score of 85. All lady members are requested to billing a basket for the King’s Birthday Tournament on 3rd June. MEN’S SECTION. Last week was devoted to the host games in the Knock-out Handicap Competition. This provided some very interesting matches, the results being as follows, the winner’s name in. each case being mentioned first: —Cooke v Gardiner, 6 and 5; Anderson v Tomkies, 5 and 4; Nelson, junr., v Dagg, by default; Murchison v Homans, 5 and 3; Nelson, senr., v Cockerill, 3 and 2; Wilkinson v McNeill, by default; Eyton v Griffin, I up; Farrant v Miller, 4 and 3. Tire King’s Birthday tournament on Saturday next will be the big event in the local golfing year and keen interest is being shown in the various competitions. Several visiting players are expected. Local players are requested to hand in their entries at once. The matches for the men are timed to commence at 9 a.m. sharp, and competitors must be- on the links not later than 8.45 a.m. Unless a punctual start is made, the ladies’ matches, which commence at 11 a.m., will be hold up.
