lake county sub-branch

The annual general meeting of the Lake County Sub-Branch was held last Thursday, 28th nil. Airs D. R. Hamilton (president) was in the chair and the meeting was well attended. Appointments of officers resulted inMrs Hamilton being elected president and Airs AV. H. Overton, vice-presif dent. The general committee is as follows: —Alesdames Murray, Luckie-, Atley, Humphrey Davies, Curtis* Macdonald, Lewis, J. -C. Scott, Hales, Edwards, Critchffcld, and J. B. Hamilton. The balance sheet showed a small credit balance, but it was stated that the Branch is liable to Lumsdeu centre for a considerable amount in outstanding levy. The report states, int-enalia: That the year had been a fairly satisfactory one considering the present difficult times. It was hoped in the near future to reduce the hub-branch is liability to the Lumisden branch Thanks were returned to Alessrs J. \V_ Gardiner (Queenstown) and AIcGuU and Saunders (Arrowtown) for distributing Plunket foods; also to Mi B E. Scheib for taking the i lunket nurse to and from Arrow-town free of charge. All those who had shown hospitality to the nurse during the year were also recorded- heaar> thanks— Regret was expressed at the resignation of Miss Pearce, whose worn during the year had been ol a very high standard— Appreciation ol the good offices of the president, Alls D R. Hamilton, was also expressed. Residents of Lake County who have supported the Society, and the l iesswere included in a cuiqprciliensiv e vote of thanks. , ft was decided to canvas the town and district lor subscriptions -and donations in the endeavour to raise sufficient funds to clear the .mb Branch's indebtedness. , , , The Committee also decided to hold a cake and produce sale in me 1 ket Room on 7-th May.
