Census forms were handled by thousands ot enumerators in Britain this vear, including 12,704 unemployed, 1.821 Civil servants, 6,347 employees of local authorities, and 19,144 other employed or retired persons. One enumerator disappeared while the count was in progress—and his enumeration book and the schedule he had collected vanished, too.
