VALEDICTORY.

Last Thursday evening Miss Molly Dagg was the guest of honour' at a kitchen evening given her by . a number of her gird friends in view of her marriage—which took place yesterday morning. The venue of ,the gathering was the Town which proved very cosy for the .occasion. The girls invited several of their boy friends to be present, which enabled them to have a programme of dance items. The music was supplied, mainly, by the hall gramophone, while supplementary numbers were played by ladies present. After supper the Committee called on Miss M. S. Warren to say a few words on their behalf regarding the occasion. Speaking first of Miss Dagg in the public position she had held for some three and a half years, namely, that of assistant town clerk, librarian and secretary to the Cemetery Committee, Miss Warren said ehe had proved a thoroughly conscientious, obliging and efficient officer and had earned the good opinions of the Council, the ratepayers and householders in general. Her buoyant, happy nature had also made her popular with young and old. Miss Dagg was a young lady of many parts who had proved her capacity for making good in whatever task she undertook. It was the ernest wish of all her friends and acquaintances that her greatest success would be achieved in the step she was about to take. They all offered her and her husband-elect their best wishes for health and prosperity in their married life. In conclusion Miss Warren said Miss Dagg’s girl friends felt they wanted her to make a real “hit” in the culinary department of her new home, so they were presenting her with a great many kitchen utensils that would be a means to this end.

A clothes basket of brown paper parcels was then produced, and a very interesting time followed, piling up the various articles on a table in the centre of the hall. On behalf of his wife-to-be, Mr Lewis returned hearty thanks for the gifts and for the good wishes accompanying them. Dancing was then resumed, a very pleasant evening being brought to a close shortly after midnight La-st Tuesday evening St. Andrew’s Bible Class girls entertained Miss Molly Dagg, one of the members, at a high tea in the vestry of St AnA very happy time was spent and many felicitous references were made to her approaching marriage. During the evening Mrs W. H. Berry the Bible Class leader, presented Miss Dagg with a framed picture in token of the goodwill of her fellow members, who wished her every happiness in her new sphere of life. A few evenings ago Mr Les. Lewis was met by his follow-employees at the home of Mr Jas. C. Scott, x his employer, and presented with a dinner set in token of them goodwill and good wishes for happiness and prosperity in his married life. Mr Lewisl, who was completely taken by surprise, returned sincere thanks to the donors for their kind gift.
