The introduction of the Transport Licensing Bill by the Government was the principal feature of yesterday’s sitting of the House of Representatives. It goes to a select committee lor the taking o! evidence. In a clear explanation of the measure, Mr Vcitch (the Minister of Transport), who has had previous experience of the difficulties of getting such legislation through Parliament, showed that, through a nationally controlled system of licensing of public passenger and goods services, it would be possible to impose conditions leading to more efficient results, with less destructive competition and greater economy from a national viewpoint.
