GOLF.
MEN'S SECTION. Several championship matches have been played during the week. The results are as follows: —Wilkinson defeated Macdonald, 4 and 2; Cooke defeated Nelson, 6 and 5, The club button for the month was won by A. F. Griffin with the excellent score of 83—15—68. His card shows consistent golf. The match for Saturday will be a medal round for a ball. The draw is as follows:—Wilkinson v Lynch, Hannan v Murchison, McNeill, a bye; Macdonald v Mosley; Cooke v Stoop; Nelson v Anderson; Parrant v Griffin; Overton v Dagg. KEN MELVILLE TROPHY. The gold medal presented by Mr Melville will be played for by prayers of 20 handicap and over. The match will be a knock-out competition on handicap. Players are requested to get the first round through as early as possible. The first round is as follows: Curtis 24 v G. Lynch 30; Dagg 28 v Mosley 30; Nelson 22 v Murchison 30; Overton 30 v McKay 20. {Note.— In match play on handicap, take f of the difference between the stroke handicaps.) LADIES’ SECTION. - The following is the result of the first qualifying round of the championships played on Saturday last:— Mrs Hannan 92, Mrs Elliot 98, Mrs Wilkinson 107, Mrs Mann 110, Mrs Curtis 111, Miss Clarke 115, Mrs Dagg 118, Miss Geisow 123, Mrs Macdonald 124, Miss Davis 129. The draw for the second qualifying round to be played next Saturday is as follows: — Mrs Hannan v Mrs Curtis, Mrs Elliott v Mrs Dagg, Mrs Wilkinson v. Miss Clarke, Miss Geisow v. Mrs Macdonald, Miss Davis v. Mrs Mann.
