Stronaflh, Morris and Co., Ltd., report for week ending Thursday, October 21, 1926, as follows; Eat Cattle.—There was a heavy yarding, 361 being penned, compared with 271 for last Week. The proportion of heifers and cows was only moderate, and there were some exceptionally wel-finis held bullocks among the entry. The supply was considerably in excess of butchers’ ®ie!quirements, and the market opened with values easier fully £1 per head. As the sale progressed, there! was a further easing in values, and at the dose prices could be quoted easiejr f by 30s to £2 per head for heavy cattle, 30s per head for lighter sorts. Extra prime heavy bullocks to £l9 17s 6d; prime £ls to £l7 10s; medium £l2 10s to £l4 10s.; light £lO to 1£2., Extra prime cows and heifers _ to £l2 15s, prime £8 to £lO, medium £6 10s to £7 15b. Fat Sheep—There were 1864 yarded with 1501 last week. Included in the penning were the first shorn sheep of the season. The quality generally was particularity good. Values opened on a par with last sale's rates, and firmer as the sale progressed by Is per head. Extra, prime heavy wethers 42s to 45s 6d; prime, heavy 36s to 40s; lighter 32s to 35®; exfiria heavy shorn wethers 29s Gd to 31b 9.d); heavy shorn Wethers 26s to 28s Gd; lighter'22s to 255. Extra prime heavy ewes 40s to 44s 6d; prime 35s to 395; lighter 3ls to 34s Gd; prime shorn ewes 25s Gd to 275. Pat Lambs.—A yarding of 38 was forward, and met a good sale, values being on a par with last week. Extra heavy local lambs 42s to 45s Gd; lighter 35s to 38s; medium 25s to 31s. # Pigs.—There was a fair yarding oi fat pigs, 123 being 1 penned. Baconers met with a slow sate, and values were easier by 10s per head. Porkers were also a shade easier. There were 88 stores penned, and these met with a keen demand and sold at late rates Sheepskins—We held our iluflual fortnightly sheepskin sale on Tuesday, and offered a large catalogue to a fuu attendance of buyers. Prices for half-breds were fully maintained, while cross-bredis showed a slight easing tendency. Half-bred full* wools 14|d to 14|d; half-wools 12d to 13|d; quarter wools lOd to 13d; fine cross-bred fuk wools 13d to 13|d half-wools lid to 12d; cross-bred full-wools 12d to. 13M; half-wools 9fd to ll|d; quarter wools 9£d to lid; cross-bred damaged 8d to lOd; half-bred hogget 13d' to IJU-d, cross-bred hogget 12d to 12fd‘; merino 12d to 13fd, pelts 8d to 9|d. Oats.—Very little business is passing.. ‘A’ grade gartons may be quoted at up to 3s, and B’s at 2s. lOd, sacks extra, on truckj, country sidings. Wheat.—A few samples have been offering this last Wjeek, (but despite the shortage, are. nob keen buyers. The same remarks apply to. the fowl wheat buyers, _ Who are anticipating an early arrival of Canadian wheat, Much is expected to sell .cheaper than either local or Australian. Milling wheat may be quoted at up. to 7s Gd ex truck, Dunedin, and fowl wheat at Sfmin 71s 3d to’ 7is* 6d, ex store, sacks extra in each case; Potatoes.—As practically no choice lines are being held in store., the local demand is supplied from Canterbury. Good tobies, freshly picked, are bringing from £4 10s to £5 per ton, ex truck, sacks in. Chaff.—Good bright quality is still the only quality that can be readily marketed 1 , and this may be quoted at up to £6 ex truck, medium to £5, and inferior from £3 10s, opa store, sacks extra.
