Wakatipu Football SubUnion.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of above was held in the Foresters’ Hall on Tuesday last 24th April. There were -present: Mr L. J. Lynch (president), Messrs J. E. O’Connell, W. Churstain, A. Indor, and Geo. Held. The balance sheet showing a credit balance of £6O 5s 9d was read and adopted on the motion of the Chairman and Geo. Reid. The matter of the accounts for medical expenses incurred by players last season and insurances against loss of time were thoroughly gone into and were passed .for payment. Medical and dental expenses amounted to £23 3s 9d and the following were paid at the rate of 25s per week loi time lost through inability to work; W. Farrant, J. B. Hamilton and J. Thomson, 4 weeks each; A. Barnett, It. Atley, D l . Rowe, 0. Reid, 2 weeks each; H. Munro 1-| weeks; a total of 21£ weeks, which is equivalent to £26 7s 6d. An account from the Lake .County Press for £2 10s 6d was .also passed for payment. This concluded the business of the out-going Sub-union and a vote of thanks was accorded Mr Eider the retiring member ORDINARY MEETING. A meeting of delegates to the Subunion from the various clubs was then held and was attended by the following:—Queenstown Club: Messrs L. J. Lynch and H. Tomkies; Glenorchy Club: Messrs Geo. Reid and W. Hume; Country Pirates Club; Messrs J. E. O’Connell and W. Churstain. No delegates were present from Arrow Club, one member, Mr J. Forbes, having intimated that he was not able to attend. The acting-secretary stated' That Queenstown was the only club whiqh has sent in the names of its delegates. Mr Churstain proposed and Mr Lynch seconded —That Mr George Reid take the chair. It was proposed by Mr L. J. Lynch that two members from each club constitute the Sub-union for the coming year. Seconded by Mr \\. Hume and carried unanimously. Proposed by Messrs J. E. O’Connell and W. Churstain —That the delegates present with the addition of two delegates from the Arrow Club constitute the Sub-union. Carried. Proposed by Mr L. J. Lynch and seconded by Mr W. Churstain—That Mi- Geo. Reid be appointed president of the Sub-union for the ensuing season. There being mo other nominations the proposal was carried unanimously. The balance, sheet and report us submitted by the outgoing Sub-union Was adopted by the incoming Subunion, \ Mr J. E. O’Connell was elected vicepresident. . A Mr W. ■D. Warren was "appointed secretary and treasurer at a remuneration: of £9 os. It Was- decided that two rounds be played for the Cup this football season ' It was decided that the football season commence on the sth May It was resolved that all matches between Queenstown and Glenorchy, at Glenorchy, be played on Tuesdays The following fixtures were decided on for the first round for the Cup:— Queenstown v Arrow at Queenstown on May 5. Glenorchy v Pirates at Genorchy on May 8. Arrow v Pirates at Frankton on May 16. Glenorchy v Queenstown at Glenorchy on May 22. Pirates v Queenstown at Queenstown on June 2, Glenorchy t Arrow at Arrow on June 9. Proposed by Mr L. J. Lynch, and seconded by Mr J. E. O’ConineU— That a charge for admission to all matches be made and that the gate money be handed to the Sub-union. It was decided that the matter of procuring tickets be left in the hands of Mr H. Tomkies. The secretary, Queenstown Football Club, wrote suggesting the advisability of appointing outside referees in the interests of the game and for the benefit of local referees. Messrs A.\ B. Bryant and T. Luckie Avere nominated as referees from the QueienstoAvn Club. A list of senior players was enclosed. The letter Avas received and the secretary instructed to reply to same. Some discussion ensued on the matter of the. appointment of outside referees. It ■ Avas estimated that it would cost something like £3O to import referees from outside the district. In these circumstances it was agreed that the funds of the Subunion Would .not stand this. Mr Lynch suggested that in the event of a. competent referee being in the town he should be asked to referee it a match Avere on. It .would be in Hie interests of footballers and the game generally to have experienced men. in charge of the matches, it was eventually resolved that the Referees’ Association be supplied with a list of fixtures and dates for the Cup innate he's and that the Association be asked to recommend to a sub-committee suitable referees for all matches, and that except under extraordinary cireumsitaiictes the Sub-union conform to the Association’s recommendations. Messrs _ Tomkies, O’Connell, the chairman and a. representative, of the Arrow Club were appointed members of the sub-oommittee. Proposed by L. J. Lynch and seconded by 11. Mr O’Connell made an offer of the Frank ton ground for Queenstown matches in case the Queenstown ground is unsuitable or not available. It was also, decided to inform the Queenstown Club that in the event of the Glenorchy team having to travel from Queenstown when matches are fixed for the Queenstown ground, the Queenstown Club will require to pay the visiting club’s travelling expenses.
