Queenstown Tennis Club

The annual meeting of the Queenstown Tennis Club was held in the Council Chambeis on Thursday evening last. Rev R- de Lambert presided, and there was a good muster of members and intending members. For the position of lion, secretary and treasurer the following were nominated: Messrs G. B- Burns, Geo. Da vies, and Miss McLaren. ' On a balLot being taken Mr G. B- Bums was elected. On the motion of Miss Bowie and Mr Overton it was 'decided that four members besides the Elective Officers ant as the Executive Committee to carry out all duties in connection with the running of the club. The subscriptions were fixed as follows:—Okl members: (/eutlemfen, 15s, beginners 10s; ladies, 7s 6d, beginners ss, with the right to strike a levy if 'required. It was decided that the Club season open on Satu.iv day, 18th September, on the Park Courts, all the lady members to bring a basket.

The secretary was instructed to draw up the Ladder Competition for the current year, all results of ladder games to be reported-to the secretary within 24 hours. All games must be played off before 5 p.m. except in extraordinary circumstances, when permission must be obtained from the secretary.

It was decided to accept the Cromwell Club's challenge to play here on Labour Day, provided they could not arrange to come up on a Saturday. It was also resolved to extend the the. Dunedin Club's members (through the Otago Association) an i.ivitation to use the Club's court when visiting Qneenstown. The chairman moved a vote of thanks to the retiring office-bearers, and to all t ho-e who worked for the the concert held last season, the success of which was diue to Mrs Burns, Me-srs Tomkies and Cnvti-. -Carried "with acclamation.
