The French have driven the Germans back appreciably within the last 24 nours. S.S. ROTORUA TORPEDOED. The manager of the New Zealand Shipping Co. has received a cablegram stating that the s.s. Rotorua, after landing all her passengers at Plymouth, was proceeding up the channel when she was torpedoed. The ship was lost. Captain SutclifTe and the crew were saved, with the exception of one cook.
