BOWLING NOTES.

A rink compo'ed of four memberof the Wakatipu Bowling Club journeyed to Clyde oil Saturday kisl and challenged Dunstan Club, the holders, of the "Joliy" Memorial Cup.. The rink consisted of Messrs T. J, Kelly, W. L). Warren, L. J. Lynch and S. B. Potters-on (skip) and the "holders were Messrs Sutherland, Dovidtson, Sullivan and H. Stevens (skip). . The contest which was keenly fought throughout, resulted in a second victory for the Clyde quartette by 20 to 12 points. The green wa- Li jtood ordier, but after i ne first lew heads a strong southerly swept the .sward and made the play very tricky. Queenstown .scored in the first two heads, then Clyde obtaintwo singles. On the seventh head the scores were 5 all. Clyde increased their scon* to ( .) on the tenth head. The Queenstown skip was unlucky enough to knock his opponents' bowl into first shot at least three times during the contest Clyde scored 3 on the 19th and 20th heads and Queens town 2 ori the 21st head,, J making tne scores 20—12 in favour of Clyde. The element of luck comes largely into bowls*at times and it will Sj probably be admitted by both sides that the Clyde quartette were favoured'in this respect,.although as a whole they played the better game of the two teams. At the conclusion of the contest, Mr Sullivan, president of the Clyde rink, thanked the W'akatipu rink for their visit and stated that, whilst they (Clyde) were very pleased to otitain another victory for the Cup, he hoped that. Queenstown wouldmake another effort to secure the coveted honour. Mr Warren, a vice-president of the Wakatipu Club, expressed the pleasure the Queenstown quartette had derived..from their visit, and although unsuccessful they would still make another effort to obtain the Cup j later on in the season. He congratulated the Clyde rink on their win. Afternoon tea was very kindly disby several lady friends or relatives of the Clyde Club. The following arc the detailed scores:—
