BOWLING NOTES.
TUAPEKA v. QUEENSTOWN. Two rinks oompo»sed of members of the Tuapeka Bowling Club arrived in Queens town on New; Year's Day and played a match with representatives of the Wakatipu Bowling Club on the 2nd January. Thu match ended in favour of the visitors by a margin of four points. In the first half of the srame one of the local rinks skipped by Lynch was considerably down, whilst the other was well up, but not sufficient to compensate for the difference. In the last few heads Lynch's rink pulled up somewhat, but Darton (Lawrence) reduced some of the difference between his and Warren's rink, and this mainly contributed to the visitors' win. The games were playea in the spirit characteristic of the pastime. _ The green was somewhat tricky at times and baffled the efforts of some of the players to sruage it accurately. The president of the Cluo, Mr V. Paine, ve-y kindly provided ample and most acceptable refreshments in the pavillion, for which the visitors, as well a.s local bowlers felt truly grateful. At the conclusion of the match, the usual courtesies were exchanged by the presidents on oehalf of their respecCluhs. The following are the scores:— L- QG. Talbovs, H. H. Leary, A. Arthur; W. L. Several friendly contests were played on the local green during the New Year holidays between visiting and local tinks. On New Year's Day a St. Kilda rink defeated a Queens town link, whilst the tables wer© turned on a strong Kaituna rink consisting of Messrs Scrimgeour, Mackenzie, Shepherd and T. McLennan. _ The local link consisted of Messrs Kelly, Crawshaw, Lynch and Warrenv(s). Two other matches were played between the same combinations, except that in the last match J. McLennan replaced Mackenzie. In the latter two matches Queenstown was beaten by a small margin in each case. The link wliich will represent Clyde in the Jolly Cup match next Sato-clay will be as follows: —Sutherland, Davidson, Sullivan and Stevens (s). The Queens town rink will be composed of Kelly, Warren, Lynch and Pettersson
