COMMERCIAL.

Stronach, Morris and Co., Ltd., report for week ended Thursday, 21st May, 1914 as follows:

Fat sheep.—There was a large yarding of ;io.'!4, there very few pens of heavy wethers. Prime quality sold up to last week's rates, but medium wethers and ewes showed a considerable drop. Quotations: Best wethers 22s to -4s (id; extra heavy to 'Ms 9d; medium 16s to IDs ; best ewes 18s to 225-, extra heavy to 27s 6d; medium los bdto 17s 6d; light to 14? 6d. Fat lambs.—l92o were penned, principally good quality. There was good competition and prices were a shade better than at last sale. Quotations : Best lambs 19s to 21 s; extra to 245; medium to good 16s to lSs : light 12s 6d to 14s 6d. Fat cattle.—2l6 were yarded. Competition was not keen and prices were much the same as at last sale. Quotations- — hest bullocks £ll 10s to £l3; extra heavy to JClo 108; medium .£lO to £ll ss; light £8 15s to £10; best cows and heifers £7 10s to £H 10s; extra to £9 10s, medium £o to £ti los.

Pigs.—About tJofats were penned and 7u' stores. Competition was fairly keen and prices were much the same as at last sale. Quotations: Suckers 10s to 15s tid, slips to 255, stores to 83s, porkers to 525; baconers 00s to Si is.

Kabbitskins.—We offered a large cata logue at yesterday's sale, when there was a good attendance of buyers and kt-en competition. (Quotations : Early winters 15} d to 17Jd; incoming to 16d; autumns to lt>d; heavy racks 10id to IOJd, light racks Did to 9jd; springs and summers 9Ad to lid, best blacks to IHJd fawns to 14cl; horsehair to,lß.}d per lb. Sheepskins —We offered a very largo catalogue at Tuesday's sale when prices, owing to the recent rise in the London market, showed a considerable increase here. There was very keen competition. Quotations: Best half-bred i)d to 9'id, good Sid to bijd; inferior and dead 7id to 7]d, best fine x-bred to 9id, best coarse x-bred to Did; medium to good Hid to gsd, best lambskins to Sjd, medium 7\d to Sid, best merino to Sjd; medium to good 6!d to 7id, best pelts to 73d, medium to good old to GJd per lb. Oats—There is very little change although slightly better enquiry. Medium and inferior oats are hard to place. Quotations—Prime milling Is lOd to Is lid, good to best feed Is i»d to Is lOd, medium to to good Is 7dto,ls 8d per bushel (sacks extra.) Wheat.—There is a good enquiry for prime velvet and tuscan. Fowl wheat is also in good demand. Quotations:—Prime milling velvet 4s 2d| to 4s ]3d, tuscan and red wheats to 4s Id; best whole fowl wheat 3sjSdto 3s lid, medium 3s 4d to 3s od per bushel (sacks extra.) Chaff.—The market is over supplied and medium quality is very hard to place. Quotations:—Best white oaten sheaf i! 3 2s tid to £3 7s 6d; medium to good .£2 15s to £3 per ton (sacks extra). Potatoes—The market is still well supplied and prices have eased considerably. Quotations —Best table lots £5 to £o 5s ; medium to good i! 4 10s to .£4 15s inferior £i to £4 5s per ton (sacks in).
