VALEDICTORY.
On Monday last, says a correspondent, a vi'ry pleasant gathering took plate at Kingston, when the members oi'ihe railway stall' and residents met io bid good-wye to Mr and Mrs J. 6. Thomas who were leaving tor Invereargill alter Having resided in Kingston for the past nine years. It was .resolved that they could not leave Kingston without taking away with them something to remember the many pleasant days they had spent in the southern port of Lake Wakatipu. During the evening Mr Muirliead presented Mr and Mrs Thomas with a handsome travelling rug and remarked that his fellow employees and the residents of Kingston were very sorry to lose him but were glad to hear that his transfer meant substantial promotion (Mr Thomas had i.e.'ti acting as ganger). They hoped ihat hv 1 would litul his surroundings in li.mvargill as congenial as they had been in Kingston. Messrs K. Cameron and J. Plank also referred in complimentary terms to Mr Thomas Sii:g:::g and darning were indulged in duiTtg the evening and when "Auld Lang Syi.e" was sung in the early Hours of the morning one and all said that the evening was one of the most pleasant ever spent in Kingston. Mr Piank kindly acted as accompanist ami provided the dance music.
