Few people perhaps are aware that the lelegraph Department charges Id if a receipt la wanted on payment of an aooount, however small. A member of the staff of the Press paid the sum q£ 1 8 at the telegraph counter in Christchurch, and on asking for the acoount rendered to be receipted was told that according to regulations a charge of Id would hare to be made.
