Just before the regatta an eccentric old boatman stuck up a board in his boat with the words chalked : "1 will gi\e the boat to anyone who is contented." lie soon had an applicant. "Well, lad, are you a contented chap ?" "Yes, sir, very." was the lad's reply. "Then what do you want with my boat ?" The boy grunted and departed.
