Mr C. De C. Williams, the well known American Professor of Phrenology, of Kyneton, Victoria, has just issued a treatise entitled a Phrenological Poem, anil in blank verse of considerable ingenuity he sets forth the whole of the forty-three organs and their phreuological value. The pamphlet contains in addition to the poem, a plan of the organs, a portrait of the author and a page devoted to " Cupid," which last will doubtless prove of interest to young people. Mr Williams is to be complimented on the graphic method in which lie handles this decidedly complex subject. The poem has been issued in pamphlet lorm at the popular price of sixpence. Messrs Gumming, Rogers, and Muirlieail insert notices to the ratepayers of their respective ridings, that they will be candidates at the forthcoming County Council election. The first named gentleman is an old and highly esteemed resident, and he is a new aspirant to Council honors. The other two are well known and popular members. Mr J. v.d. VValde, inserts a new a ivc-rtise ment wherein he announces that he is giving up business. Messrs O'Meara and Co. announce that they have started a sharebroking business. The tender of Mr Luckie for the breakwater extension was accepted. Two only were received. The Lake County Jockey Club notify that their annual meeting will be held in Eichardt's Hotel on Wednesday nextCheap excursions by steamer and railway in connection with the Dunediu spring races next Wednesday and Saturday, are advertised. The Skippers annual school bad will be held in the Library Hall, Skippers, on October 20th. See advertisement. The position of head teacher at Macetown school is vacant. Applications are invited in this issue. Mr J. Rowell has pure Langshan eggs for sale. A 30 h.p. engine, a tubular boiler, and an iron smoke stack are advertised for sale by the Achilles Company Ltd. at Bu!lenda!e. CHRONIC DIARBHCEA CURED.
