Fraser, M.H.R, wrote stating that the several enquiries from the Council would receive his consideration. —Received.* The Lake County Council sent a statement of expenditure iu connection with the administration of the "Alcoholic Liqours Sale Control, 1893," from the Ist July. 1898. to :50th June, ISU9, and asked the Council to send cliei[iie for their quota, —Attended to.

A circuGr was received from of the Auckland branch of the Australasian Federation League wiib. regard to forming a branch of the League in this district.—The Council decided to take no action.

Wesley Tui ton wrote stating that matter of a title for two of the Council's reserves—namely Marine Parade and one at the OneMile— had been completed, and account for same was enclosed. The writer stated that the idea iu getting a title was to fence in the reserves and to plant shrubs and place chairs for the convenience, of the public and tourists. It was suggested that the Council should get the survey done by the district surveyor, who would do same for nothing or a small sum.

From same enclosing account for retaining fee up to September 1, 1899. Also memo stat'ng that the Corporation's instructions re electricity were being carried out as quickly as possible; also memo stating that transfer of plantation reserve had been completed.

After some discussion on the latter communication it was resolved ou.the motion of Crs M'N'eil and Monson—That the Council pay two of Mr Turton's accounts, namely £l" 12s Gd and £l4 15s after the title deeds for block 51 had been handed to the town clerk ; but that the account for £ls 15s retainer fee stand over to be considered at next meeting of Council. Cr IT lines complained of the dirty state of the gutters, especially the one in Rees street. Quantities of wtufT were deposited in same by people without any nctite b'.ing taken by the inspector.

The Mayo* said it was a violation of the bylaws. It was ordered that the town clerk instruct the inspector to enforce ihe by-laws win re necessary.

Cr M Neil referred to the great inconvenience caused to the householders when the w tor wis tinned off on account of cracked piles. It appeared th it w hen the smallest pipe bursts, nearly the whole of the town water supply had to I e cut off to repair the dam.'ge. To do aw-.y with this inconvenience Cr M 'Neil suggested that the Council should have proper valves so that one part of the town supply can be .shut off from the other.

The suggestion was thought to be a aood one, and it was resolved that '.he Works Committee fix oa the must suitable places to put in valves.

Strekt nkar 11. C. Ciitrch. Rev. Father O'l'onnell wrote stating that the formation of the street was now beiug carried on, and would have been finished before this this but for the frost. While sympathising with his neighbour on account of the w;:ter going into his property, the writer would not recognise an) responsibility in the matter.— Letter left o-er till ucxl meeting. The Clerk reported the overdraft at the bank to be £O3 4s lid.

Accounts am. tinting to £su Is 9d were passed for payment. The meeting then adjourned.
