WINTER EVENING CONCERT.

A very interesting and unique entertainment was held in the Town Hall on Friday night, June 18tb, the attendance being very satisfactory. The proceedings commenced with a March and the National Anthem, played Tt>y Mrs Gaon, the audience joining in the singing. A number of portraits ot the Queen and members of the Royal Family were shown on the screen, and these were followed by several striking local views and places of interest to be seen along the road to Macetown. The duet '" What are the wild waves saying ? " was nicely rendered by Mrs Gann and Miss Burrows, accompanied by Miss Robert/son. Then followed some very beautiful views of South Australia, showing principal streets and scenes in and arottnd Adelaide. Mr J. Williams then gave very effectively the song, "Ora pro nobis," which was illustrated on the screen by very appropriate and beautiful views. A reading was nicely given by Mrs Gann, entitled "Children in the Wood," and was also illustrated. Then some more views of the " Land of the Kangaroo " were shown, including " Jacky " a well known and famous aboriginal. The solo, "Love's old Sweet Song " was given by the Rev W. A. Gann, and this was followed by a variety of views, both interesting and amusing. After a brief interval, a number of very beautiful tableaux vivants (living pictuies) were shown by means of gaslight. The changing colors were much admired. The following subjects were arranged—" The Spirit of the Summit," "The Milkmaid," " Maid and Dove," " Crowning of the May Queen," "The two Musicians," "The Queen of Hymen," (an amusing tableau in three chapters,) and "Her Majesty." The "Crowning of the May Queen" was very effective, and the " Queen of Hymen" was heartily applauded. " Her Majesty " was perhaps the best of the evening. Miss and Mr C. Robertson rendered very effectively a pretty duet, " Her Bright Smile haunts me still," accompanied by Mr J. Williams. The promoters wish to express their appreciation and gratitude to those who so willingly assisted in the entertainment. The young ladies who took part in the tableaux were Misses Upsdale, Hatten, Clohesy, Campbell and Burrows. The Rev Mr Gann efficiently conducted the proceedings and gave very clear 1), descriptions of the various scenes, etc., and Mrs Gann very efficiently presided at the piano.
